WHAT: Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, County Board Supervisor Penny Rollins, Verona Mayor John Volker, Alexander Company and Chamber of Commerce officials and others will be on hand at the site of the planned new retail / housing development in downtown Verona.
Dane County provided a BUILD grant for Verona to develop an overall downtown redevelopment plan, supported construction of the new Senior Center which opened in May 2002, and plans are now to make a $180,000 loan, from the county’s Community Revitalization Loan Fund, to the Alexander Company for the retail portion of a mixed use residential and commercial development on the site.
Verona’s plan also calls for a new civic plaza to provide a gathering place and create an identity for the downtown.
WHEN: Monday, July 14, 2003, 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: On Main Street in downtown Verona, at the site of the former Brunsell Lumber company, along the former railroad tracks, now the military Ridge Bicycle Trail. The sign at the site has a rendition of the proposed development, and other architectural renderings will be available.
