Planning and Development Coronavrius (COVID-19) Updates:

 

In light of the emerging COVID-19 crisis, the Dane County Planning & Development office will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC effective 4:30pm, Wednesday March 18th. Department staff will continue to answer questions and process zoning applications via phone and email, where possible.

Please call 608-266-4266 or send an email to plandev@countyofdane.com if you have questions regarding planning, land division, property records, or zoning OR to discuss alternative options for submitting applications by email or US mail. Your message will be routed to the appropriate staff person for follow up.

    • Our physical office and customer service counter will be CLOSED until further notice.
    • Most of our department staff will continue to work remotely during the closure, monitoring their email accounts and voicemail messages. We will do our best to respond to messages in a timely manner.
    • Please call 608-266-4266 or send an email to plandev@countyofdane.com for general questions regarding planning, land division, property records, or zoning. Messages will be routed to the appropriate staff person for follow up.
    • Zoning permit applications and rezone / conditional use permit petitions will still be accepted and processed, to the extent possible. Applicants are encouraged to send an email to zoning@countyofdane.com to inquire about options for submitting applications.
    • The Zoning & Land Regulation Committee is currently planning to hold the public hearing scheduled for Tuesday March, 24th following precautions recommended by Public Health. If the hearing is cancelled, staff will notify all interested parties. The status of the next scheduled hearings / meetings of the committee in May and beyond will be assessed as the dates draw nearer and based upon future recommendations and directives from Public Health.

    • For all surveyors in need of document research that would typically be done in our office, email the Dane County Surveyor, Daniel Frick.  Please include the description of the property that you are researching and any research parameters you are in need of, such as; plat name, lots and blocks, township, range, section and ¼ ¼ , road right-of-way plats by name and location, monument records, etc… I will do my best to accommodate you and send you what we have electronically as quickly as possible.
      I will be checking voice mail periodically; however, email is by far the most effective way to contact me for the duration of this office closure period.
