Public Hearing on Proposed 2014 Dane County Parks Permit Fees

The Dane County Park Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2014 Parks Permit Fees at their meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 5:30 PM at Lyman F. Anderson Agriculture & Conservation Center, 5201 Fen Oak Drive (formerly 1 Fen Oak Court), Madison, WI 53718.  The public hearing will begin at 5:30 PM (not 5:45 as previously listed).

 

The Dane County Park Commission has the responsibility to set the fee structure for services provided in the County Parks.  Each year fees are evaluated and adjusted to help offset operational costs.  Parks Director Darren Marsh stated that the fee changes under consideration are the weekend use of Lussier Family Heritage Center, park shelters and the Special Event Permit.  The Park Commission is also considering different fee levels for park shelters, as well as expanding reservation opportunities on overnight campsites.

 

The Commission is exploring the creation of two new categories for managing park shelter reservations based on demand and amenities.  Premier shelters are those in a prime location and/or offering more amenities.  Standard shelters with fewer amenities would have a reduced fee to encourage greater use.  The Park Commission will also consider increasing the number of reservable sites at Babcock, Brigham, Mendota and Token Creek campgrounds from 50% to 80%.  Lake Farm campground has 100% of the campsites available for reservations.

Permits may be purchased in a variety of ways, including online at www.reservedane.com, by calling the main Parks office at 608-224-3730 or at the County parks.  You may also come to the Parks office at 5201 Fen Oak Drive, Monday – Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
