Statement by County Executive Parisi Regarding Joint Finance Action on Regional Transit Authority

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi issued the following statement in response to the majority in charge of the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee voting to dismantle the Dane County Regional Transit Authority.

 

“I am disappointed that the majority in charge of the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee voted to dismantle Dane County’s regional transit authority today.  They have taken away an important economic development tool for Dane County, and for local governments across Wisconsin. 
 

“Dane County is the fastest growing county in the state.  A regional transit authority not only would have helped recruit new employers and residents to our area, but it would have been key to providing current and future residents with a balanced transportation system to get them from point A to point B. 
 

I continue to support an RTA for Dane County, and I support my constituents’ right to decide what their transportation system should look like.”
