The Dane County Lakes & Watershed Commission is seeking nominations for the Dane County Waters Champion Awards, which recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations that have positively impacted the water resources of the County. Now in its ninth year, the annual Waters Champion ceremony recognizes outstanding contributions to the protection and improvement of these resources during Take A Stake in the Lakes Days in June. “We all need to do our part to clean up our rivers, lakes and beaches. And we all owe our thanks to the people who work so hard to protect and improve these special waters. Their actions today will have a lasting impact on the future of the lakes and streams we treasure. Please nominate your favorite waters champion today!” said Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk. Dane County Waters Champions’ commitment to restoring and protecting Dane County’s water resources improve water quality as well as the scenic, economic, recreational and environmental value of those lakes and streams. "Dane County's lakes, rivers and streams make this a very special place to live, work and play," said Melissa Malott, Dane County Lakes & Watershed Commission Chair. "Consider nominating a friend, neighbor, business or group who goes the extra mile for cleaner water so they get the recognition they deserve." Nomination forms are available from the Office of Lakes & Watersheds, One Fen Oak Court, Room 234, Madison. Call 608-224-3730 or go to www.takeastakeinthelakes.com and click on “Dane County Waters Champion Award Ceremony.” Nominations must be received by April 30, 2010.
