The Dane County Parks Tenney Lock will have extended hours for this year’s Rhythm and Booms celebration at Warner Park.

Saturday, June 27th (rain date Sunday, June 28th) the lock will open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 12:00 midnight.

Boaters accessing the Lakes and using the Lock during this period of high traffic are asked to use caution when operating their boats. “We expect a large number of boats on the water, and a high number of boaters increases the chances of accidents occurring,” said Kathleen Falk. Being a courteous and patient boater is key to having a safe outing, added Falk. The Dane County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol will have staff stationed at the Tenney Lock on the Saturday evening to make sure boaters safely move through the Lock and are attentive on the water.

Boaters are also reminded of the “Slow No Wake” Ordinance on the night of Rhythm and Booms. The ordinance will be enforced between sunset (approximately 8:40 pm) and midnight for all of Lake Mendota. Boaters are asked to operate at the minimum speed at which a motorized watercraft is able to move and maintain adequate steerage control. For more information visit Dane Waters (see link).
