Sheriff's Office

– It is with great sadness that the Dane County Sheriff’s Office announces the death of retired K9 TJ. TJ died early Sunday morning surrounded by his family. Deputy Enger and TJ worked together from 1996 until 2005 when TJ retired from law enforcement. TJ worked for the Dane County Sheriff’s Office as the Rescue and Cadaver dog. He was trained to find missing persons and locate cadavers, both on land and under water. His expertise was utilized by many police agencies, including the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. TJ worked many high profile cases, and in 2003, the Badger Kennel Club declared him the “Hero of the Year.” Deputy Enger has continued his dedicated work with the Dane County K9 Unit with K9 Milo, who is also trained as a Search and Cadaver dog. Our thoughts and prayers to out to the Enger family. ###
