Injury Crash in the Town of Rutland - Updated

Madison, WI: October 18, 2008 At approximately 10:20 a.m. Dane County Sheriff's Office deputies, Stoughton Fire/EMS, Stoughton Police and Oregon Police responded to STH 138 and Flint Road in the Town of Rutland for a two-vehicle injury crash. A vehicle northbound on Flint Road failed to yield at the stop sign and proceeded westbound on STH 138. A motorcycle was traveling eastbound on STH 138 and was struck by the vehicle as it pulled into the intersection. The driver of the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by Town of Madison paramedics to an area hospital. The names of the two drivers involved will not be released at this time pending further investigation by the Dane County Sheriff's Office. Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is encouraged to call the Tipster Hotline at (608) 284-6900. *****UPDATE***** The motorcycle operator was identified as 25 year-old David J. Horne of Madison, WI. Horne died at UW Hospital as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash. The vehicle driver was identified as 76 year-old Louis E. Spink of Oregon, WI. Spink did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
