Town of Dane - Injury Crash

Madison, WI. May 24, 2008 – At approximately 1:49 am on Saturday, May 24, 2008, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an injury crash in the Town of Dane. The crash occurred on Meek Rd, approximately 0.4 miles west of Bonetti Rd. Jacob Ceplina, age 22 of Lodi, was driving a 2003 Ford Focus eastbound on Meek Rd, failed to negotiate a curve, and left the roadway rolling the vehicle approximately three times. Passenger, Kurtis Gauger, age 21 of Lodi, was not wearing a seatbelt and received a head laceration. Gauger was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Ceplina and a second passenger, David Robbins age 21 of Lodi, were wearing seatbelts and not injured. Ceplina was arrested for Causing Injury by Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence. Gauger will be cited for not wearing a seatbelt. Both speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
