Arrest Made in Hit and Run Case

At approximately 8:30 pm last night, Dane County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Susan K. Gorton, age 45 of Cottage Grove. Gorton is currently being held in the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle – Controlled Substance, and Hit and Run. The investigation began the evening of February 6th when Gorton, who was driving her 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe, struck 53 year-old Dale Connors. Connors was riding his bicycle eastbound on Femrite Drive in the town of Blooming Grove when he was struck from behind. Gorton left the scene of the crash, but contacted law enforcement several hours later reporting that she believed she had hit something with her vehicle. Connors was transported to UW Hospital where he died of his injuries. Detectives have been working diligently over the last several months to gather the information and evidence needed to bring this case to a close.
