There is a vacancy on the County Board representing District 10 in the City of Madison due to the resignation of County Board Supervisor Dave Worzala, who was appointed to the Office of Dane County Treasurer. A special election to fill this seat for the remainder of the term, until April, 2010, will be held on November 4, 2008, at the time of the November general election. If necessary, a primary election will be held on September 9, 2008, at the time of the statewide fall primary election. The period for circulating nomination papers began July 18, 2008 and the deadline for turning in nomination papers is 4:30pm on July 28, 2008. The number of required signatures is not less than 50 nor more than 200. It is critical that potential candidates contact the Dane County Clerk’s Office (266-4111) for more information on the requirements for becoming a candidate, prior to circulating nomination papers. District 10 includes Wards 61, 64, 65, 66, and 71 in the city of Madison. County Board supervisors receive an annual salary of $8,200 plus mileage reimbursement, and $30 per meeting payments for attendance at certain non-county board meetings.
