COUNTY HEARING MONDAY ON DEPARTMENT BUDGET REQUESTS

September 07, 2007
Tim Saterfield, Office of the County Board (267-1529) Joanne Haas, County Executive’s Office (266-8823)

A public hearing on 2008 county departmental budget requests will be convened jointly by County Executive Kathleen Falk and the Dane County Board of Supervisors, chaired by Supervisor Scott McDonell, on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 7:00 PM in Room 201 City County Building. The hearing will provide an opportunity for members of the public to identify issues of concern to the Executive and Board prior to the introduction of the County Executive’s recommended budget. Two hearings were already held on the Department of Human Services budget request. Monday’s hearing will include all other county departments, including the Sheriff’s Office, Land and Water Resources (including county parks), Library Service, and Veterans Services. At the hearing, each county department will present a brief overview of its budget request, followed by testimony from the general public. The County Executive will introduce budget recommendations to the County Board by October 1, 2007. County committees will review the recommended budget and make changes if they wish. Another public hearing will be held in October prior to full County Board consideration of the committee recommendations in early November. Final action by the County Board on the 2008 county budget is expected by late November. # # #
