PUBLIC HEARING TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 15TH TO FILL DISTRICT 30 VACANCY ON THE DANE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

A public hearing will be held on Tuesday November 15th, 2005 to hear from applicants to fill the vacancy in the seat representing District 30 on the Dane County Board of Supervisors. The district includes the towns of Blue Mounds, Perry, Primrose, Springdale, Vermont, Ward 1 in the Town of Montrose, the Village of Blue Mounds and the Village of Mount Horeb. The vacancy will be filled by an appointment to be made by the County Board Chair and confirmed by the County Board. The general public is invited to attend and also participate in the hearing. The hearing will be held on Tuesday November 15th, 2005 at 7:00pm at the Village of Mount Horeb Municipal Building (138 East Main Street in Mount Horeb) and conducted by Dane County Board Chair Kevin Kesterson. Those interested in applying for the appointment will present their credentials and answer questions about their qualifications and interest in county government. Other county board supervisors may attend the hearing and also ask questions. The general public is invited to attend and also testify regarding their concerns about the vacancy. Following this hearing Kesterson will submit an appointment to the Board for confirmation no later than November 18, 2005. It is anticipated that the board will act on the appointment at its December 3rd meeting. Any resident of District 30 who is interested in filling the vacancy should send a letter of interest to the County Board Chair, and then file a declaration of candidacy with the County Clerk’s Office. Interested persons must circulate nomination papers themselves and get signatures from at least 25 electors residing in the district, and file those papers with the County Clerk’s Office. The period for circulating papers began Monday, October 31, 2005 and closes on Monday, November 14, 2005. Declaration of candidacy forms and nominating papers are available in the County Clerk’s Office, Room 112 City County Building in Madison.
