Dane County Board Chair Kevin Kesterson today announced that he will sponsor a motion, to be placed on the September 1, 2005 county board meeting for action, to provide waivers from county fees for county residents affected by last week’s tornado. “I certainly appreciate the County Executive’s efforts in having resolutions drafted with regard to building permit and environmental health fee waivers. However I see no reason to wait for at least two weeks for resolutions to be drafted and processed in committee to provide relief to the victims of the recent tornado,” said Kesterson. “The last time we had tornado damage in Dane County of the magnitude seen in the Stoughton/Pleasant Springs area, in 1992, the Board passed a motion immediately, without referral to committee, to expedite relief to those citizens affected by the storm. I will arrange for the same consideration for fee waivers for this situation.” Included in Kesterson’s motion will be a waiver of charges to local government by the Dane County Public Works, Highway and Transportation Department for any debris removal or other services provided as a result of the tornado. His motion also includes waivers for zoning and environmental health fees. # # #
