Arson Investigation Linked to Possible Hate Crime

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a vehicle fire that may be the result of a hate crime. This morning Deputies responded to the 4500 block of Golf Drive, in the Town of Windsor, for a report of criminal damage to a vehicle.
The vehicle’s interior had been set on fire, with the letters “KKK” painted in red on the outside of the vehicle. There was a strong odor of gas coming from inside the car. It is believed the fire was started at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The homeowners were not home at the time.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are continuing to investigate this crime and are looking for anyone who may have information to call the Tips line at 284-6900.
