Madison, WI. March 31, 2008 – The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 31 year-old Abraham Miranda-Arreola of Waunakee in connection with the fatal hit and run crash that occurred on Saturday night. At approximately 9:07 pm, March 29th, Dane County Deputies, along with Deforest Police and EMS, responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway DM and US 51 in the town of Windsor. A Chevrolet passenger car was traveling northbound on US Highway 51, when it was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet pickup truck that failed to stop at the stop sign on County Highway DM. The male operator of the pickup truck then fled the scene on foot. The male and female occupants of the passenger car were transported to UW Hospital, where John M. Kauffman, age 40, was pronounced deceased. The female occupant, also age 40, is being treated for serious injuries. Sheriff’s detectives believe the driver of the 1992 Chevrolet pick-up truck is Arreola, who has not been seen since the night of the fatal crash. Anyone with information on Mr. Arreola’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
