Fatality crash

Madison, WI: At approximately 11:35am the Dane county Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on CTH TT approximately 1 mile East of CTH N in the Town of Sun Prairie. Preliminary investigation indicates a 1991 Nissan pick up truck was westbound on CTH TT when it crossed over the centerline and struck an eastbound 2003 GMC pick-up truck head on. The operator and sole occupant of the Nissan pick-up truck was transported by Med-Flight to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The operator and lone occupant of the GMC pick-up truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible contributing factors to this crash. Niether driver was wearing a seatbelt. **UPDATE** The deceased has been identified as Joseph R. Ponti, 52, of Marshall. The driver of the Nissan pick-up truck has been identified as Joseph R. O’Malley, 25, of Marshall. O’Malley has been charged with Homicide by Operating While Intoxicated. The crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
