Dane County Awarded Grant to Treat Alcohol, Drug Offenders

The State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance has awarded a grant to Dane County to continue a series of innovative programs for drug and alcohol offenders. The $163,725 Treatment Alternatives and Diversion Grant (TAD) will support Dane County’s successful Drug Court Treatment Program and a new program focused on AODA treatment and mental health services for offenders with alcohol and drug dependencies. “Our goal is to improve public safety by helping people overcome addiction and break the cycle of crime and incarceration,” County Executive Kathleen Falk said. About 50% of inmates in the Dane County jail have alcohol and mental health issues. In addition, there are nearly 3,000 drunk driving convictions in Dane County each year. This is the second year in which Dane County has received the TAD grant funding. # # #
