The Dane County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2008 County Budget on Thursday, October 25th at 7:00 PM in Room 201 of the City County Building. The County Executive's proposed budget recommends $460 million in total expenditures, with a property tax levy of $113.8 million and a county tax rate of $2.38 per thousand dollars of assessed value. Interested citizens can attend the hearing to present their concerns to the Board. Those wishing to speak will each have five minutes to address the Board. “I urge Dane County taxpayers to come to the hearing and let the board know what their priorities are”, said County Board Chair Scott McDonell. “These are challenging times, and the Board is doing its best to balance the many competing priorities. We welcome public input as we put this budget together.” County Board standing committees have been meeting over the last two weeks to review the County Executive’s proposed budget. Committee deliberations will continue the weeks of October 29th and November 5th. Input provided at the public hearing could result in budget amendments to be considered during this period. The Personnel and Finance Committee will consider standing committee recommendations and send a budget recommendation to the full County Board. It is anticipated that the full County Board will begin its budget deliberations on Thursday, November 8th at 7:00 PM in Room 201 - City County Building, and continue on Monday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 14th, if necessary. # # #
