The template is designed to assist residents prepare for emergencies. The document is available on-line or by request. When preparing for emergencies, people need to plan using an all-hazard approach. For emergencies, people need to base their planning efforts on how to satisfy their needs rather than how to react to individual hazards. Household preparation follows a FOUR STEP PROCESS: 1. Identifying individual needs in an emergency, 2. Building a supply of materials to meet those needs, 3. Preparing an emergency plan to organize ALL household member’s actions, 4. Staying informed. Traditionally the process becomes difficult when attempting producing an emergency plan; especially in regard to content and format. The Household Emergency Plan Template provides a format and suggestions for information and procedures to include in an emergency plan. "This is one crucial step citizens can and should take to prepare for an emergency," Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk said. For assistance in acquiring the document or with general emergency planning considerations, please contact J. McLellan, Population Protection Planner with Dane County Emergency Management at 267-2542 or at mclellan@co.dane.wi.us. ###
