McLellan, Dept. of Emergency Management 608/267-2542 FEMA DRC Reference #091007-#1 Available at: www.co.dane.wi.us FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is opening a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at 4318 Robertson Rd., Madison, WI 53714. The DRC will be open Tuesday, September 11 from 12:00pm – 7:00pm and 8:00am – 7:00pm on all subsequent dates, every day of the week. The DRC will remain open until further notice. Agencies represented at the DRC include FEMA, the federal Small Business Administration (SBA), the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM). Home owners, renters, and businesses can receive face-to-face assistance and information at the DRC. Although persons may register for federal assistance at the DRC, they strongly encouraged to register BEFORE visiting the DRC. This will save time and effort for all visiting the DRC. Persons staffing the DRC can review individual applications and provide information regarding the types of assistance offered by the federal government. Dane County’s web site (www.co.dane.wi.us) has links to FEMA’s home page and disaster assistance registration web page. Additionally there are downloadable documents regarding the DRC hours and location, FEMA disaster assistance registration (in English and Spanish), and Help After Disaster, Applicant’s Guide to the Individuals & Households Program document. Residents are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to read FEMA’s Applicant’s Guide before starting the DISASTER ASSISTANCE PROCESS. The guide provides an overview of the process and information they need to have ready to apply for federal disaster assistance. The guide can be found on FEMA’s web site. Reporting flood damage to local municipalities DOES NOT REGISTER residents with FEMA! Persons must register with FEMA to be eligible for federal assistance. To register, visit www.fema.gov (and click on the “Disaster Assistance” link), or call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 1-800-462-7585). Registration is the required first step in the federal disaster assistance process. The registration deadline is October 25, 2007! To register, persons should be prepared to provide the following information: · zip code of the affected property, · date damage was sustained, · personal information including social security number and contact information, · the amount of their gross income, · insurance information, · directions to the affected property. If registering by telephone, the process can be expected to take 20 – 30 minutes. Whether registering online or over the telephone, be prepared to record a FEMA Application number. All Dane County home owners, renters, and business owners who suffered flood damage from the August 18-19 storms are eligible to apply whether or not they reported their damages to their local municipalities. DIRECTIONS TO ROBERTSON ROAD FACILITY: Go to U.S. Highway 51/Stoughton Road. Take the Milwaukee Street exit ramp. Travel East on Milwaukee Street for .3 miles and turn onto South Stoughton Road/Arnold Street for .1 miles and turn left on Robertson Road. ###
