Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today named a 15-member workgroup to advise her and the county on developing a Transfer of Development Rights and Purchase of Development Rights program to help curb sprawl in Dane County. A TDR / PDR initiative is a key part of Falk’s “Attain Dane” land use plan announced earlier this year. “Our goal is to preserve what we all love about our cities and villages and to protect our rural landscape,” said Falk. Members of the work group are: Larry Gleasman – Realtors Association of South Central Wisconsin John Hendrick – Dane County Board Gerald Jensen - Dane County Board Brett Hulsey – Dane County Board Jim Welsh – Natural Heritage Land Trust Jerry Derr – Dane County Towns Association David Boyd – MSA Professional Services Tom Oakley – Covance Laboratories Connie Anderson – Anderson & Kent Law Firm Mike Slavney – Vandewalle & Associates Brian Munson – on behalf of Veridian Homes Patrick O’Connor – MFS Realtors Jeanne Hoffman – City of Madison Brian McKee – Madison Area Builders Association Pat O’Brien - Dane County Farm Bureau Representative “I appreciate these busy and talented people giving their time to this important initiative,” said Falk. They meet for the first time Tuesday, July 13 at noon in the County Executive’s conference room. Attain Dane! is Falk’s plan for preventing sprawl through a regional, comprehensive approach to housing, transportation and open space issues. Besides a TDR / PDR initiative, the plan also includes a “build out plan,” or map, to identify the best long-term development pattern, and tax base sharing among communities. # # #
