Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today delivered the attached memo to members of the Dane County Board of Supervisors. It outlines the impacts to the county resulting from Governor Jim Doyle’s Executive Budget. Falk reported that the county is set to lose a projected $1.4 million in 2003, and $5.1 million in 2004. To deal with the loss of state revenues, Falk announced a series of measures, including cuts, freezes and revenue generators totaling $1,681,200, which will be implemented beginning Friday, March 7. This evening, Falk will meet with the County Board to provide information about the Governor’s budget impact on Dane County, and the steps she is taking this year to address the situation. Falk said, “The steps I am taking protect our priorities and will have the least impact on delivering services to our citizens. We will continue to monitor the situation. In fact, the bigger challenge will lie in crafting our county’s ‘04 budget, when even greater cuts in state funding are proposed.” # # #
