Public Hearing on Proposed 2023 Dane County Parks Fee Increases

MADISON, WI – August 29, 2022 – The Dane County Park Commission will hold a hybrid public hearing regarding proposed 2023 park fee increases. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, September 14 at 4:45 pm. Those interested in participating can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.

The Dane County Park Commission sets the fee structure for services provided in county parks. Each year, the fees are evaluated and adjusted in order to offset operational and maintenance costs associated with various park activities. The Dane County Park Commission is proposing to keep the majority of permit, shelter and camping fees the same for 2023. The last fee increases were pre-COVID, most increases were five (5) years ago or more. This year, increases in a few service areas have been proposed including dog, lake access and mountain biking. Proposed changes also include a new discount for veterans and military members, a new application fee for special event permit requests and an overhaul of the way fee-based recurring programs that use parkland as their main meeting location are charged.
