Dane County has submitted summary damage information from the Saturday March 5, 2022 straight line winds and tornado that affected the Town of Dunkirk and the City of Stoughton to the State of Wisconsin.  184 homes and 14 business structures were damaged by either a tornado or straight line winds.  The current estimate of public sector costs including debris clearance, road repairs, public buildings, and public utilities is $216,000.

Dane County’s Department of Emergency Management formally submitted this information to Wisconsin Emergency Management.  This submission allows the Town of Dunkirk and City of Stoughton to apply for disaster assistance should it become available.

Moving forward – if citizens haven’t already, report your storm damage to the Town of Dunkirk or City of Stoughton.  Take pictures of all storm related damage on your property.  Document ALL clean-up and repair expenses including ALL receipts and emails.  Beware of paying for work before it is completed; ideally all work should be documented in a contract.
