Dementia Care in a Crisis - Part IV - on line

Event Dates

  • Wednesday, 10/13/2021 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

Event Description

For this In Person session, we will learn directly from the Madison Police about what happens when a crisis related to a person with dementia occurs. We will talk about what this looks like for the individual living with dementia and what your role will be in this situation.  While our goal is to avoid emergency detentions and restrictive measure, there are times when these interventions are necessary. In this session, you will learn about the emergency detention process and how you can best support an individual in crisis when this becomes necessary. Presenters: Sarah Shimko, Mental Health Manager, Madison Police and Kayla Stotts, Crisis Mental Health Worker with MPD.
