Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Criteria
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 City-County Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award.
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian is presented annually to the person or persons who have demonstrated leadership and volunteerism while making significant contributions in the areas of:
- Promoting peace
- Understanding and improving communication and cooperation between diverse populations in Dane County.
Criteria: Young Leaders (13 - 19)
- Young adults who have demonstrated the principles of Dr. King for at least thre yearas;
- Have shown visible and continuing leadership in one or more of the following areas: education, religion, civil rights, politics or the provision of significant social services in the community;
- Have not previously received this award ;
- Currently not be a member of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award Commission.
Criteria: Humanitarian
- Adults actively identified with the Dane County area for at least five years;
- Have shown visible and continuing leadership in one or more of the following areas: education, religion, civil rights, politics, community or civic services;
- Have not previously received this award
- Currently not a member of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award Commission
Nominations must be submitted to the Department of Civil Rights by Friday, December 9, 2011, 4:30 p.m.
Commission members will independently rank the nominees, results will be compared and award recipients
will be chosen collectively by Committee members. The award(s) will be presented at the Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration in January 2012.
