FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 5/13/2005
Issued By: County ExecutiveView only releases from County ExecutiveMadison, WI – Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today released the following statement in response to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s announcement of base closures as part of the Base Realignment And Closure Commission (BRAC) process. Truax Field, at the Dane County Regional Airport, was not on the list for closure. The County Executive sent a letter of support for Truax to Secretary Rumsfeld in September of last year.
“I am so pleased that Truax Field (Wisconsin Air National Guard 115th Fighter Wing, 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation Wisconsin Army National Guard) will remain open in Dane County. The vital work being done there by members of our community is important to the safety of our country, as well as to the economic vitality of our county. Thanks to the efforts of our airport staff, the Governor, the city, and the congressional delegation who all collaborated on keeping this base open for the greater good of our area.”
